Definitions for the purposes of this charter: Parent: Any person to whom parental responsibility has been imbued
or allowed or who has assumed such responsibility through birth, agreement
or other means, this shall include a child’s natural mother and/or
father whether together or separated by estrangement or divorce, adoptive
parents, foster parents for the duration of the fostering arrangement
or the partner by cohabitation of one of the above, excepting in each
case where a court has ordered that such responsibility shall not apply
through access restrictions or other injunction Contents 1 Parental responsibility 1 Parental responsibility 1.1 Parents will be expected to take responsibility for their children’s
physical, social and moral welfare
2 Parental rights/choices 2.1 Parents shall have the right to act as parent to their children without
undue impediment or interference subject to section 1 above
3.1 In the event of a dispute between a parent and any organisation -
in so far as parental rights are concerned - the right of the parent shall
prevail 4 Some legal considerations By my signature (below) to this document, which I understand shall be held on file by The Parent Organisation Ltd, I agree to be bound by the terms and conditions above. I agree that the terms and conditions may be amended from time to time as may be necessary by law but that I will be notified of any such changes, thereby allowing me to withdraw from my participation at any time. I understand that my signature to this charter does not confer upon me any legal right other than by way of agreement with any other parties also signatory to it but not in any way contrary to law. This charter is a declaration of intent to adhere to best practice guidelines and shall form the basis of an agreement between only the signatories to it. I understand that my signature to this document does not confer any right to promote or publicise participation in this charter, without the prior written consent of The Parent Organisation Ltd This document has been drawn up by the directors of The Parent Organisation Ltd. Neither The Parent Organisation Ltd nor its directors, jointly or separately, shall be held liable for any damages resulting from participation in this charter. Organisations that are signatories of this charter will have their details printed on the website of The Parent Organisation Ltd. Parents will not be similarly identified. This file, of Parent’s details, will be managed in accordance with the legislation as provided by The Data Protection Act. Details will not be passed outside of The Parent Organisation Ltd save where an organisation asks for specific confirmation that a named parent is a Parent Charter member when determining a course of action as may be required to satisfy its obligations under section 3.3 of the Parents Charter. We may, from time to time, wish to make offers to you or seek your views
on parent related matters. We reserve the right to advertise our activities generally and cannot prevent information reaching you as part of a promotion that is targeted to people generally rather than at specific individuals. The Parent Organisation Ltd is a company set up and run according to the following mission statement: Seeking without bias or indoctrination to provide parents with the knowledge, guidance and support they need to make informed choices about the way they raise their children, in the belief that better parents create better parents.
